Headford GAA Club, established in 1888, is located 25km north of Galway City in the town of Headford, Co. Galway.
It offers Gaelic football coaching, training and competition for a range of ages, starting from U6s right up to Adult Level.
Although our Intermediate team were highly competitive in the Championship in the last few years we had a poor season in 2022 which resulted in relegation to Junior. Our lads are really striving for a promotion back up the ranks in the not so distant future.
In 1888, a man by the name of William Kyne, went to a meeting of the GAA near Athenry, holding the honory title as the first ever Headford representative in attendance.
After that meeting saw the formation of the Headford area’s first ever competitive Gaelic Football team.
This is the 135-year-old tale of Headford GAA Club.
Behind every great Irish town and community, lives a great GAA sports club. And with Headford GAA Club’s strong, withstanding roots that date way back to 1888; – generations of local parishioners have been brought closer together, driven by pride and a sense of belonging.
