We continue our reports of each age group with the u-8s:
Our u-8s had a brilliant few months. Their improvement in that time has been the highlight of this shortened year. We would like to thank all the parents who as always showed the coaches great support in getting their men to all the games, where we consistently fielded 3 teams with only a panel of 26 lads. We would like to thank Kilkerrin/Clonberne, St James’s & Moycullen for hosting us as well as Tuam Stars, Dunmore, Moycullen & Annaghdown for travelling to Headford over the last few months. It was a bit daunting travelling to the likes of Moycullen and they having over 40 togged. Our lads more than held their own in every game against all teams. We would like to thank Oranmore GAA for organising a game for next week but unfortunately that was taken out of our hands due to Level 3 restrictions. It would have been a pleasure to host them.
We would like to thank our home referees Peter Gallagher, Sean Gillon and Paraic Walsh who made a great job officiating the home games. We would like to thank our coaches. Glen Corbett, Tom Corbett, David Langan, Daniel Garvey, Thomas Newell and Neil Walsh for their time and effort over the last few months. We would especially like to thank our two senior players Daniel and Thomas who set a shining example for other members of the adult players, who helped out and gave those 6, 7 and 8 year olds someone to look up to and hopefully someday fill their boots in the adult team in a few years. Finally and most importantly thanks to the young men who made the most of a short year and showed great skill, determination and loads of bite in every game and training session. We look forward to seeing them all again next year. Remember to keep yer skills up over the winter.
