We started our year in February with over 30 lads at each session showing great enthusiasm.
Despite the pandemic bringing a halt to our training, we were hopeful that when we were able to go back training, the lads would give a good account of themselves in their respective leagues.
When we resumed in late June, the coaches were extremely impressed with the attitudes of all the lads. It was also very clear to see that the lads were not idol in the period they weren’t with us.
Our two squads were in leagues with Caherlistrane, Tuam Stars, Corofin, Monivea-Abbey and Athenry which commenced on 19th July.
Whatever the result may have been in these games, The boys always gave 100% and played to the best of their abilities.
The squad which was in Group 1 qualified for the Cup final and played Caherlistrane on 5th September.
Despite being 7 points down with 10 minutes to go. The boys came back to win the cup by 2 points which the lads thoroughly deserved.
What was evident in all the games but especially in the final, was that the lads always encouraged each other on the field and always played to the final whistle.
This is a quality that isn’t in many teams and is a very encouraging sign for the future.
The coaches would like to thank all the parents/ guardians for their assistance this year.
Thanks to all the coaches Enda Mannion, John Finnerty, Damien Mellett, John Fahy, Paul Reynolds, Ronan Biggins, Mark Murphy and Sean Gillon.
